New record

Today I have been staying in USI from 9 am to 8 pm. Any comment?

The time to sum up

So, the first term has gone, the second has just started. The exams have been quite demanding, but almost all of them have gone well: I’m not very happy about two marks, but considering that the total amount was 13 courses… I think it’s normal. And, at the end: what is a mark? :D

Last week (the first one of the spring term) started the course of Usability Lab: we have a lot of fun searching in Lugano some examples of good and bad applications of the Norman’s design principles, and take a photo of them. And in the next days we had the possibility to express our creativity by working on the group project (take a look at all the photos). I liked that course a lot, and I’m very happy it’s not finished yet: we will have more time to work on the project, having also some tutoring sessions.

Another good new is that I’ve been hired (by/through USI) for a challenging project as interaction designer: probably I cannot say everything about it right now, but I can tell you that is something dealing with Second Life. I’m very happy about that: since I want to work as interaction designer in future, I do need to start having some experiences in the field. Tomorrow I will have the first Skype-meeting.

Tomorrow is starting a new course too, Introduction to marketing.

One room, ten persons, eleven computers

How many computers are we using?

Taken during the course of Usability Lab.

What is TEC-CH about?

I just uploaded some final assignments. Pay attention at the time.

What is TEC-CH about?

It’s getting a bit complicated

I’ve just come back in Lugano because of some exams and project presentations. It’s really a mess:

  • 01/23 - written exam: Interazione Umana e Realtà Virtuale (in the morning); meeting with my classmates for the project of Internet Promotion Lab (in the afternoon).
  • 01/25 - project presentation (and delivery): Communication through Museum Scenography.

And for this week it’s all. The real problems come because of the other deadlines:

  • 01/28 - delivery: Communication for CH Lab. I’m working on it right now, and I guess to finish within tomorrow.
  • 01/29 - project presentation: Internet Promotion Lab; delivery: Information Visualization.
  • 01/31 - project presentation: Information Visualization.
  • 02/01 - delivery: Technology for Communication Lab.
  • 02/02 - delivery: Advanced Seminar 2. This is just crazy.

At this point the session will be ended and I will be completely psychopath. But I will be able to come back home for other 2 weeks, which is quite nice.

And by the way, London was nice. :)

Let’s work!

Here I am, starting working on some projects: Human Interaction and Virtual Reality, Communication for CH Lab, Communication through Museum Scenography, Internet Promotion Lab, Information Visualization, Technology for Communication Lab, Advanced Seminar 2. All these projects will be delivered/presented between the 01/23 and the 02/04: just a bit challenging. :P

Right now I’m working on the Communication for CH Lab project: the task is to design an interactive multi-channel storytelling application using an engine called 1001 Stories, developed by the HOC Laboratory. I think I’m using it in a new way, so I’m quite engrossed by it. 8-)

I’m waiting for a response about my project proposal of Communication through Museum Scenography: since I will receive the answer, I will go ahead on it. Here the task is to create a storyboard representing a museum scenography of our choice, which is pretty creative.

I’m also reading some papers and books for the written exam of Human Interaction and Virtual Reality.

That’s it for now, and I think it’s enough. On monday I will go to London, can’t wait!

Finally…

This is exactly what I was dreaming about: holidays! TEC-CH courses have became a bit heavy toward the end, so I’m very glad that Santa Claus has came out also this year. Now I’m in Italy and Christmas meals have recovered part of my lost energies :)

Truth has to be said: eight project presentations are incoming. But the first will be on January 23, so I still have time to relax…

Oh, just a service information: now the blog has a new and authoritative incoming link. Take a look here.

I need some holidays

I have just had my individual presentation for the elective course Information Visualization, told by Riccardo Mazza: I presented Understanding USA, a project of Richard Saul Wurman. I think it has gone pretty well, but I will know it in Genuary 31, when I will have the project presentation: a mock-up of a visual interface able to display the changes of a wiki page. Which is pretty cool, considering that I’m loving designing things. :)

Within half an hour I will have lunch and then will try to attend again the Exhibitions and Museum Scenography lesson: the name is cool, but yesterday I didn’t like it that much (maybe because it was the introductory lesson?)…

Oh, we have organized a TEC-CH lunch for Thursday, for my birthday and XMas celebrations. Dreaming about them.

My thesis is on Lulu.com!

I’ve just published my thesis (bachelor program - written with Eleonora Delfrate) on Lulu.com. Titled Microsoft Annual Report: Reputation Against Malpractice and available in free e-book format only, it’s ready for the download here.

I should notice you that it’s written in Italian language, but don’t worry: you can still enjoy the stunning graphic design! Let me know what you think about it!

Let’s touch!

This week I attended the seminar Alternative Interfaces for CH Information, told by Slavko Milekic. It was great, I fell in love with that huge smart table!

He also told us something about his course Psychology of Touch: it’s just a pity that he is teaching it in Philadelphia…

And you know what? I’m so busy in these days: so much lessons, so much projects, so much deliveries… Love that :)
Fortunately this weekend is a long one, so I have time for all those activities (hope!).
